A Ton of Anime News Dropped During the Holidays
The winter break offer a multitude of pursuits considerably more enjoyable than checking the updates: discovering surprises, feasting on delicious food, and employing patience techniques to not arguing with relatives. I hope you managed to accomplish all these things and more. However, the world of entertainment never sleeps, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. Numerous exciting announcements emerged during the festive period, and just in case you missed some of them, here is a roundup of the juiciest bits.
The One-Punch Man Series Season 3 Will Continue (Come 2027)
Without a doubt the most surprising revelation, the notorious troubled production that was the third season of One-Punch Man failed to halt further production. Season 3 will return with a second cour in 2027—such a distant date they might as well have called it season 4. Even more shocking, animation studio J.C. Staff will remain leading the project. At least this time, director Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the start, which is seen as a good sign. Yet, the promotional image for the new episodes is the same image the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This leads one to believe that, at this point, they could be teasing the fans.
Ruri Dragon Is Poised to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime Produced By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has built a name for being an elite animation studio, making its mark not just for the exceptional quality of its work but for the good working conditions of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had not adapted an anime stemming from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, possibly the most famous magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will break that tradition, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became massive popularity when it launched in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a lengthy break due to the mangaka's health issues. When it resumed publication with a reduced workload, the series demonstrated it maintained the fans' appreciation and goodwill, and now fans are thrilled about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
The Kingdom Series Season 6 Is Getting a Follow-Up Now in the Works
Kingdom is the best-selling, long-running Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only just received an English release, but the anime has been running for years, and season 6 was a further excellent entry. Apparently that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as currently being made, and it will probably premiere in 2026.
Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia To Anime
A further studio known for the excellent quality of its work, Science Saru has brought us masterpieces of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be producing the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the true story of Fatima, an influential woman and scholar in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and fascinating visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my list of anticipated shows.
Tougen Anki Will Return With a Second Season
Right after the release of episode 24, it was announced that Tougen Anki will be securing a second season. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki adapts the manga by Yura Urushibara. The new season of the anime will delve into the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a concrete air date has not been disclosed yet.
