In a unexpected collaboration that defies usual predictions, the game developer has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of forbidden rituals and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden cult.

The mission centers on "strange trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Transformations

The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Newest Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
