Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.

Gamers have begun resorting to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how grueling these assignments have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four types of assignments, but although many merely grant cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 key firearms present in the game.

Several of these gated guns may soon find their way on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at very short distances, which is not usually a position you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

A different forum member brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and perhaps a classic map if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the spirit of the game.

However, when tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these challenging multiplayer missions, expecting a more balanced player experience in subsequent patches.
