Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the region, producing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage

Residents observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Storm Challenges

Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced energy failures after the capital city saw its most precipitation in 18 months.

Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At the height on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with persistent thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both areas.

Health Warning

Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
