New York Attorney General Charged With Criminal Bank Fraud Charges
A national judicial panel has charged Letitia James over allegations of financial misconduct this past Thursday, according to someone with knowledge of the case.
The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia personally presented the case to the grand jury this Thursday, as reported.
US attorneys seldom appear before a grand jury.
Halligan was appointed as US attorney the previous month following Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction regarding the progress in ongoing probes against his rivals.
The move represents the newest attempt to leverage the DOJ to target opponents.
It follows a fortnight after charges were filed involving Comey.
Long-serving lawyers wrote a document in that case explaining why charges lacked merit.
Comey denied the charges recently.
