19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
