Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
